BENGALURU: A 56-year-old hotelier was murdered allegedly by his wife and her friend in Seshadripuram, central Bengaluru, on Friday.

Police said Santosh Shetty, a resident of Seshadripuram and from Kundapura, ran Mahalakshmi Hotel near Gandhinagar. He died at a private hospital around 4pm. The hospital alerted police as Santosh was brought there with injuries all over his body.

Within two hours, police arrested Santosh’s wife, Annapoorneshwari Shetty, 44, and her friend Prakash, 24, also from Kundapura, who had recently come to Bengaluru in search of a job. Officers said Santosh was an alcoholic and lived with his wife and two minor children. His wife alleged that he used to quarrel with her and assault her frequently under the influence of alcohol.

“Initially, Annapoorneshwari told us her husband abused and tried to assault her on Thursday night, but she somehow managed to lock him up in the room. He again tried to attack her when she unlocked the door around 6.30am on Friday, and fearing an assault she hit him with a wooden stick. Prakash rushed Santosh to hospital, where he succumbed by 4pm,” a police officer said.

Annapoorenshwari also tried to mislead police by claiming that her son suggested she use pepper spray to overpower Santosh on Thursday night. But police soon found loopholes in her story. They picked up both Annapoorneshwari and Prakash, who was with her. After interrogating them, cops concluded the duo had hatched a plan to eliminate Santosh.
“Prakash’s father and Annapoorneshwari’s father were close friends and hence the duo knew each other. Annapoorneshwari told Prakash about the harassment and they decided to to kill Santosh. The women used pepper spray on him on Friday morning, while Prakash hit him on the head and other parts with a wooden stick,” police said.

Seshadripuram police have registered a case of murder. The accused will be produced before the court on Saturday.

Wife hired 3 for murder of AAP candidate Hinda: Cops | Chandigarh News – Times of India

Wife hired 3 for murder of AAP candidate Hinda: Cops

BATHINDA: The Punjab police on Thursday claimed to have solved the murder of Harwinder Singh, alias Hinda, the AAP candidate in local body polls and arrested his widow, Kiranpal Kaur along with three men they called contract killers.

Hinda is survived by his widow and their 14-year-old son Sharandeep.

The police claimed the 32-year-old widow had hired three contract killers — Makhan Ram (37) and Chamkaur Singh (26) of Maari village, and Jaimal Singh (20) of Bhaini village — who murdered Hinda, 42, on the night of September 9 at his home in Jethuke village.

Bathinda range IG MF Farooqui, accompanied by Bathinda SSP

Nanak Singh

, revealed that Kiranpal was involved in an extramarital affair with a driver, Sandeep Kumar (35) of Behniwal village in Mansa and wanted to marry him.

There was no political angle to the murder, the police officers clarified. Senior AAP leaders had on Monday described the killing as a meticulously planned political murder and demanded cancellation of the local body elections in the state.

The police added that Kiranpal had tried to get her husband murdered six months ago, but the plan fell through as the people she had contacted refused to commit the crime.

The police were suspicious of Kiranpal from the beginning, Farooqui said.

“Her version about incident was confusing as she told the cops that three persons came to their house on the night of September 9 and Hinda told her they were going to have drinks at the dhaba, but the police found no confirmation or CCTV footage of her claim.”

Kiranpal, when questioned by reporters admitted that she had planned her husband’s murder and said that she was repenting her decision.

The police detained Kiranpal over discrepancies in her version of events and she allegedly confessed her crime.

She revealed her extramarital relationship with Sandeep Kumar and said that she had asked Makhan Ram, a self-styled

baba

and fortune teller to help her eliminate her husband. Makhan agreed and contracted Chamkaur and Jaimal for Rs 50,000 each to murder Hinda. The police are yet to reveal the exact amount of money Kiranpal had paid for the murder. Sandeep is absconding and the police are on lookout for him.

Kiranpal mixed sleeping and intoxicating pills Hinda’s dinner on September 9 night and once he fell unconscious, the three contract killers covered his face with a pillow and hit his head with hockey sticks. They also strangulated him with the pillow,” said IG.

The police are on lookout for Sandeep and the other persons Kiranpal had contacted six months ago for the murder. The police will also investigate if her 14-year-old son knew about his mother’s plan to eliminate his father.

Leader of opposition Harpal Singh Cheema, when asked why AAP had claimed it was a political murder, said: “When we visited Hinda’s residence, his wife had claimed it seemed to be a political murder. We had no reason not to believe her at that time and termed it a political murder. As the truth has been revealed, the police should investigate the matter and law should take its own course.”

Accountant killed by girlfriend as he threatened to ‘punish’ her for affair

NEW DELHI: An accountant employed in a private firm in central Delhi was abducted and murdered by his girlfriend after he threatened to punish her for having an affair with her employer. Police said on Saturday that the woman slipped sleeping pills in the man’s cold drink and then dumped his unconscious body into the Yamuna near Mathura with the help of a friend.

Mandeep Singh Randhawa, DCP (Central), said that police first learnt of Sushil Kumar’s disappearance when his father, Rishi Pal, filed a missing person complaint at the Hauz Qazi police station on August 12. The father informed the cops that Kumar had left office but went missing on the way home.

“The investigating team found that a large number of text messages were being sent from Sushil’s mobile phone to a woman. His father also disclosed that his son was in a relationship with the woman, Dolly Chaudhary,” said Randhawa.

Chaudhary was summoned and during questioning, she broke down and admitted to drugging Kumar and consigning his body into the river with the help of friend Manish. At her instance, Manish was arrested from Mathura. Police recovered the gold ring and a bag belonging to Kumar from him.

The woman admitted to the cops that she had been in a relationship with Kumar for the past six years. But Dolly, who was also pursuing her graduation degree course from a UP university, had recently met Mohit Mavi, who employed her in his firm in Greater Noida. The two grew close, she said, and she started staying with Mavi in an apartment near the office.

Mavi’s wife learnt about her husband’s affair and reportedly committed suicide.

Mavi fled to Bengaluru to avoid police questioning.

Meanwhile, Kumar discovered that his girlfriend was having an affair with Mavi and threatened to upload her intimate photos on social media sites.

On August 11, Chaudhary said she would explain herself and invited Kumar to Mathura. They went to a hotel, and when he went to wash his hands, the woman spiked his cold drink with some sleeping pills.

Kumar, she confessed, fell unconscious and she called Manish to help her carry the man to the river. The duo apparently lugged the body to the Yamuna on a Scooty and dumped it in the waters.

She went to her home village the following day.

NOIDA: Five years after a software engineer went missing during an evening walk in Noida, the CBI has registered an FIR for abduction against unknown persons.
Abhinav Mittal’s (35) family had approached Allahabad high court, which had directed the CBI on May 25 last year to take over the case.
Abhinav Mittal lived with his parents—Satya Narayan Mittal, Manju Mittal—and wife Jyoti Mittal, in Sector 15. He previously worked for Impetus Technologies and was planning to launch his own startup.

Satya Narayan Mittal said Abhinav had gone for an evening walk at 8.30 pm on October 17, 2013.
“I was returning from Dehradun to Noida that night. At 8pm, Abhinav called me and said that he would reach the railway station for pick-up. Later my wife informed me that Abhinav was not at home and I should come on my own,” Mittal said.
Mittal reached home and found Abhinav missing. The family launched a search but could not find him. They filed a missing complaint next day in Sector 20 police station. The family alleged that the local police did not investigate the matter properly, and registered an FIR only on December 12, 2013.
Mittal said that his son had left some messages on his computer before leaving, which was read and deleted by Jyoti, without informing him. “She did not tell me about the message. She had also called her sister and brother-in-law and a male friend that night to discuss the issue,” he said.

Mittal suspected Jyoti had an affair with her male friend.
Family members suspected Jyoti’s role in Abhinav’s mysterious disappearance. Abhinav had married Jyoti, a resident of Faridabad, in February 2007. Jyoti was an assistant professor in a private university in Noida. Almost a month after the incident, on November 25, 2013, she left the Noida home.
Dissatisfied with the police probe, Abhinav’s family later approached the high court requesting to transfer the matter to CBI. The HC observed that Abhinav had left the house after an altercation with his wife. It further said that the police had not taken any interest in investigating the matter properly.
“Dozens of investigating officials, who were entrusted with the investigation of this case, could not investigate properly and the matter seems to be stranded at the same place,” the court observed.
The court said that had the police officials interrogated the suspects sternly and strictly, the same would definitely have helped unravel the truth and to locate the whereabouts of the missing Abhinav Mittal.
