AMBALA: A resident of village Naggal, identified as Randhir Singh, committed suicide on Thursday after hanging himself to the same ceiling fan to which his wife had also hanged herself on July 7, 2017.

Randhir’s wife Narinder Kaur, a resident of village Naneola had committed suicide due to harassment for dowry by Randhir’s family, alleged Narinder’s family. On the complaint of Narinder’s family, Randhir was booked under section 304B (dowry death) of Indian Penal Code (IPC) for the murder of her wife Narinder and was in jail since his arrest and after taking bail from high court on May 19, he had came home on May 20.

“Last year, the family members of Narinder had filed a complaint against Randhir, his elder brother Mandeep Singh and his father Gurcharan Singh accusing them of harassing Narinder and killing after strangulating her, but it later was later converted to dowry death case after investigation”, said a cop.

On Thursday, Randhir committed suicide and the police reached on the spot and took his body to the civil hospital. While checking the body, the police team founded a six-page suicide note from the Randhir’s pocket, in which he had written that the persons responsible for his death were his brother-in-law Gurdhian Singh, two uncles and an aunt at his in-laws.

After the postmortem n Thursday, the kin of Randhir blocked the Ambala–Jagadhri road and a traffic jam was witnessed. The family members alleged that their son was falsely implicated in the dowry death case of his wife under a conspiracy by his in-laws. They demanded strict action and registration of case against the in-laws of Randhir. Later, the senior police officials reached the spot and assured Randhir’s family members of taking action as per law.

On the complaint of Mandeep Singh, brother of Randhir, Mahesh Nagar police station has registered a case against four accused, all members of Randhir’s in-laws family. The case has been registered under section 306 (abetment of suicide) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of IPC.

On Monday, the recovered suicide note will be sent to the Fingerprint Bureau, Haryana Police, Madhuban for handwriting inspection and as per the report from the bureau, further action will be taken in this case. The body of the deceased Randhir was handed over to the family members and his cremation was conducted peacefully in the presence of the police.”
