Honey trap case: Accused woman, an IAS aspirant, has trapped over 20 MPs
Police investigation into the honey trap case has revealed that the accused woman, who trapped Gujarat BJP MP, was part of a bigger team involved in the ‘business’.
Ever since Gujarat BJP MP KC Patel’s name surfaced in the honey trap case, speculations are rife about an active gang which has expertise in trapping unsuspecting parliamentarians into compromising situations.
The gang reportedly led by a woman has been targeting MPs to later blackmail them and obtain high paying jobs and cash amounting to crores.
The activity of the gang came to light after Valsad MP KC Patel filed a complaint of extortion with the Delhi Police earlier this week. While there have been a series of cross allegations between the woman and the BJP MP, sources from the police claimed that it was an organised crime.
The accused woman, during police interrogation, revealed details about the gang’s operations.
The woman who operates the gang reportedly sourced contact details of parliamentarians from the official website of Lok Sabha. She targeted aged parliamentarians under various pretexts.
Police said that the woman approached the MPs on their phones and told them that she wanted to discuss some legal issues. She called the MPs to her residence in Indirapuram, Ghaziabad.
The bedroom in the woman’s residence had CCTV cameras installed at different locations. Police said that the cameras were focussed towards the bed. After filming the MPs in an objectionable manner, the woman dropped them back at their residences.
According to the police, the woman was assisted by another unidentified woman from Muzaffarnagar and a man. However, the main accused denied involvement of another woman.
They said that the woman had earlier trapped 25 ministers in similar way. Uttarakhand minister Hiraksinh Rawat and MP Shadilal Batra are among the ministers who were honey trapped.
Source said that the woman used to carry about four spy cameras with her every time. Police also recovered CDs and audio clips from the woman. The woman claims to be a lawyer, however, sources said that she is not much educated.
The woman moved to Delhi about five years ago to prepare for Rajasthan Public Services Commission. Police said that the woman even appeared from UPSC exams, but did not succeed.
She told the police that she had completed bachelors and masters degree in Arts and also pursued LLB and LLM. Sources said that when the police asked her to write in English, she was unable to do so. Her lack of knowledge has raised several questions about her academic background.
Sources said that the woman maintains that she was approached by Patel, she even told the police that she went to the airport recently to receive him. She said that it was on the same day that she was raped at her residence.
Patel has refuted the allegations and said that he came in touch with the woman some six months ago.
Delhi Police is suspecting the involvement of more than three others in the gang. Meanwhile, the police have initiated a probe and have began communicating with other politicians and businessmen who were honey trapped by the woman.

“I am in perfect condition,’ says Justice CS Karnan, refuses to undergo medical test

Calcutta High Court Judge Justice CS Karnan on Thursday refused to undergo any medical test, saying he is normal and has a stable mind.

A four-member team of doctors along with around 20 policemen had reached Justice C S Karnan’s residence in Kolkata’s New Town, following the Supreme Court order in connection with a contempt case against him.

However, when the team of doctors comprising two psychologists and one senior psychologist reached his house, Justice Karnan told them, “I am in a perfect condition and don’t need any treatment. Please don’t insist on me taking a medical test.”

Karnan also said that the order passed by the top court judges amounted to harassment. “It is an insult of a Dalit judge and seven SC judges should resign,” he said.

Justice Karnan has been adopting a belligerent approach and had asserted that he will issue a suo moto suspension order against West Bengal Director General of Police (DGP) if he forcefully conducts a medical checkup.

On May 2, Karnan ordered issuance of non-bailable warrants against seven judges of the Supreme Court, including the CJI, for not being represented before him, even as the Attorney General said he was not sure whether the ‘gentleman’ would undergo medical tests as ordered by the apex court.

In the suo motu judicial order, apart from Justice Khehar, Justice Karnan had ordered six other judges — Justice Dipak Mishra, Justice J Chelameswar, Justice Ranjan Gogoi, Justice Manad B Lokur, Justice Pinaki Chandra Ghose and Justice Kurian Joseph — to appear before Justice Karnan at his New Town residence on April 28, 2017 at 11.30 am as they had offended under the Schedule Castes & Scheduled Tribes Atrocities Act.
