The call of duty can result in an unexpected casualty. A sexologist on the Mumbai police hospital’s panel of doctors at Nagpada has found that 40% of about 250 personnel who consulted him over the last three months suffer from erectile dysfunction.

Blame the hypoactive sexual desire disorder on sleep deprivation due to long work hours, life-threatening stress and unhealthy lifestyle.

Sexologist Dr Deepak Jumani was included in the panel after a session with a senior IPS officer.

The officer, who sought help for erectile dysfunction, realised that reaching out to an expert alone could be a major morale booster to his men, says another senior cop.

There are about 40,000 personnel in the Mumbai police department.

Dr Jumani, who has been visiting the Nagpada hospital twice a week for the last three months, reveals that police personnel, like many others, are diffident when it comes to talking about sexual disorders.

“We live in a sex-saturated society. We are all exposed to erotic material, be it on hoardings, in fashion, the film industry, newspapers, magazines, television or the Internet but we don’t talk about our sex problems. It is good that the cops are opening up now.”

Listening to policemen opening up, Dr Jumani found that over 60% of them suffer from sleep deprivation after spending 16-18 hours at work a day and are, therefore, unable to spend quality time with their partners.

To correct unhealthy lifestyles, the police hospital runs an obesity clinic that has dedicated nutritionists who give suggestions on the right diet to follow.

The sexologist explains that the sexual urge is the strongest of all human desires. “Though sex is a natural and normal function of our body, many are sex-starved because of cultural factors, myths or sheer ignorance. It could also be because of lifestyle problems or diseases like diabetes.”

Boyfriend in custody for killing wrestler

TNN | Aug 10, 2013, 01.51 AM IST

JAIPUR: The boyfriend of an international-level woman wrestler, who represented India in a tournament in Malaysia last year, was arrested for her murder and sent to five-day police remand on Friday. Police said further evidence will be collected to make the case against the accused strong. He will also be interrogated to ascertain whether anyone else was involved in the conspiracy in the murder.

The girl identified as Suman Meena was a resident of Santokpuravillage in Rudhwal area of Bharatpur and had come to Jaipur in November last year to appear in various competitive exams including that of recruitment for constables. Police said that the girl was staying in Delhi along with his father before coming to Jaipur. Police said she was an international-level athlete who had represented India in an international tournament in Malaysia last year. Her body was found on the railway tracks near B2 bypass on July 30.

The youth, Vikas Kumar, who had first strangled her to death and then brunt her body to prevent identification had been arrested on Thursday. Police said Vikas sexually exploited the girl and had murdered her when she insisted that he marry her. On some pretext, Vikas took her to the railway tracks on July 30 and used her stole to strangulate her.

"He was carrying a kerosene can on his bike. He sprinkled kerosene on her body and then set her on fire. We tried to identify the body. We had distributed the photograph of the body in the area near the place where she was burned. Someone who knew Vikas also recognised her from the photo on Wednesday," said ACP, Mansarovar, Sarita Badgujjar. "We handed over the body to the family postmortem," police said.

MRA, SIFF up in arms against new bill on marriage law; To stage demos outside houses of MPs voting for it

MRA, SIFF up in arms against new bill on marriage law

To stage demos outside houses of MPs voting for it

Men’s activists have threatened to carry out nationwide demonstrations outside the houses of those Members of Parliament who support the new Marriage Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2010.

The Men’s Rights Association (MRA) and Save India Family Foundation (SIFF) terms the bill as extremely anti-male, anti-husband and anti-marriage that seeks to incentivise divorce. They have opposed discussion on the bill in the ongoing monsoon session of Parliament as they feel not enough discussion have been done while formulating the bill.

Both the groups insist that the bill, which gives divorced women an equal stake in the husbands’ ancestral property, will result in several damaging results, such as a men being scared of marriage. They also say that it gives the women an unfair advantage. The activists have even declared that not only will they not vote for any MPS who vote in favour of the bill, but also will agitate outside their houses.

MRA’s city president Atit Rajpara said that since the past two weeks, they had met at least 45 Mps and the city Mayor who gave them a memorandum opposing the act. “We will sit outside MPs and politicians who will be seen advocating this Act, and ask them to adopt us and give a share from their properties,” he said.
According to the new law, the wife is entitled to have a share in the husband’s inherited property during the divorce. The decision regarding the monthly spousal support and how the property is to be divided has to be decided by the judges.

SIFF and MRA have asked the government to revise the law and not to table it in the current session of Parliament. The NGOs have also called for a more gender-neutral law that calculates the alimony depending on the woman’s contribution to the household and the duration of the marriage, among other things.

SIFF president Rajesh Vakharia said, “Any marriage law amendment has to be seen in a horrified manner taking into account other laws like shared monthly alimony, parenting, child support and others. The decision has been taken in haste. This will not curb the crime but instead may get misused. There is no provision where a woman will have to compensate to husband and his family if she woman misuse the law. If this act is passed, men will be pinned for life. The man will have to keep paying alimony to his divorced wife even after parting with his own property and ancestral property.”

Today, a man gets married mostly at the age 30, as he waits to become financially stable, with a fair salary, lot of savings and a house. If this act is passed, a male and his family will lose all this in case of a divorce. Females get concession even in income tax, Vakharia explained.

Rajpara said, “We are already witnessing many fake and extortion cases filed by women. The cases are pending for years and if this act comes men will stop marrying. This act was adopted by China, but was ruled out in 2010 after it’s widespread misuse resulted into males in China afraid of marriages. I don’t understand why such atrocities against Hindu husbands only? As per the provisions, the husband will pay 50 per cent property in case of a divorce. The remaining 50 per cent will be lost in the endless court battles. We all need a single civil matrimonial law that applies to all Indians irrespective of religion and gender. Such biased laws will lead to men committing suicide or killing wives instead of fighting legally.”

second marriage worse than the first ?? 200 divorcees find second marriage pill BITTER just in pune last two years

200 divorcees find second marriage pill bitter

Crime branch women’s assistance cell approached by 100 couples in a year, who want to divorce new life partners

Some 100 couples in the city, who were previously divorcees and had remarried, have approached the women’s assistance cell (WAC) of the Pune police crime branch over the last one year due to discord with their new life partners.

The WAC officers attribute the phenomenon to adamant attitude of the couple. They have observed that in most cases, the discord exists because the couples are not willing to ‘adjust and compromise’ with their lifestyle or because they compare the new marriage with the previous relationship.

The WAC officers claim that in almost 50% of the cases, the male partner had cheated the woman partner while remarrying by not revealing past relationships, children born out of those relationships and property details.

The WAC officers say most of these couples are in the age group of 35 to 45 years and the main factor they take into consideration while remarrying is ‘future planning’.

Police inspector and incharge of WAC Smita Jadhav told dna, “In many cases, remarried couples having marital discord have told us that they decided to remarry because they felt lonely after divorce and wanted to have company for the remaining life. In many cases, divorced women were reluctant to remarry but were convinced by parents. Because of this, they find it difficult coping with even a small problem in the new relationship and tend to take extreme steps.”

According to Jadhav, “Money has not been a major factor of discord among such couples. We have observed that many couples are working professionals from well-off families.”

Citing a recent case, Jadhav said, “A 45-year-old divorced man remarried a 40-year-old divorcee two years ago. After the marriage, the woman came to know that the man had transferred his property in the name of children born out of an earlier marriage. She felt he was not thinking of her future and was giving more time to his children from the previous marriage. Then she started feeling betrayed and approached us. She wanted immediate divorce.”

Jadhav said the WAC has now assigned four counsellors including a man to counsel such couples. “We try to sort out the problems mutually. However, many couples are not in a mood to listen to us,” she said.

Jadhav said another major reason for domestic discord is that in many cases men did not reveal their past when they remarry. She added, “We have seen in many cases, divorced men hide about their first marriage and betray the women they marry.”

Giving an example, Jadhav said, “A woman who worked in Marathi film industry and TV serials was divorced in 2004. Later, she came in contact with a man through mutual friends. The man proposed marriage and they married in July 2010 after her parents agreed. They went to live in Andheri, Mumbai but after a couple of months, she found that his claim that he had divorced his first wife was false. When she confronted him, he simply said he did not tell her about it fearing she would turn down his proposal.”

In many cases, the couples seek a divorce on grounds of mutual consent. It’s a faster and hassle free, besides both parties can file divorce petitions. Jadhav said, “In such cases, the couple live separated for six months and then file for divorce with mutual consent. The judge hears both sides and grants divorce. In such cases, it takes about a year to secure divorce.”

Jadhav also claimed that incompatibility and lack of adjustment are key reasons for the increase in the number of divorce cases among the couples.
